Recognized for his commitment to sustainable freight and passenger transportation in North America, Mathias Carlbaum, Navistar’s CEO, becomes latest executive leader to join ReMo’s Commission
WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 15, 2024) — The Coalition for Reimagined Mobility (ReMo), a global initiative of the nonpartisan nonprofit, SAFE, that is shaping outcomes to improve the movement of people and goods, proudly welcomes Mathias Carlbaum, President and CEO of Navistar, Inc. (Navistar), a leading manufacturer of commercial trucks and school buses in the U.S. and Canada, into its esteemed group of Commissioners.
With more than 150 years of proven innovation in ground transportation, Navistar is at the forefront of leveraging new zero-emission and connected vehicle technologies as part of its ongoing commitment to accelerate the impact of sustainable mobility on the commercial vehicle sector.
“ReMo and Navistar are natural collaborators,” said SAFE CEO Robbie Diamond. “The established commercial vehicle manufacturing company’s focus on creating sustainable, resilient ground shipping supply chains through innovation aligns perfectly with ReMo’s mission.”
“I am excited to join the commission of the Coalition for Reimagined Mobility,” said Carlbaum. “Navistar is committed to a future of ground freight shipping supply chains that is sustainable, safe, and efficient. Like ReMo, we are dedicated to the development of transport solutions that bring positive value to both people and planet.”
Carlbaum brings a global transportation perspective to his role at Navistar—and to the ReMo Commission. Before his time at Navistar, Carlbaum served as Executive Vice President, Commercial Operations of Scania AB—another leading transportation company and member of the TRATON GROUP—based in Södertälje, Sweden.
In addition to his work in Sweden, Carlbaum worked as Sales and Marketing Director for Scania in Spain and Latin America. From there, he became Vice President, Sales and Marketing of Scania Latin America, going on to work as Managing Director covering Spain and Portugal for Scania—and Managing Director of Scania in Brazil.
