About ReMo
The transportation industry is undergoing its most significant transformation since the invention of the automobile. Connectivity, electrification, new access models, automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and advanced data analytics are converging and accelerating, reshaping the future of mobility.
The opportunity to leverage these innovations to transform how people and goods move—improving both daily experiences and long-term outcomes—is within reach. However, realizing this potential requires bold leadership, visionary strategies, and a pragmatic approach. Industries and governments must collaborate to effectively develop, test, deploy, and scale transportation technologies effectively, ensuring their benefits to society are maximized while maintaining a careful balance between national security and economic interests.
SAFE launched The Coalition for Reimagined Mobility – ReMo for short – in 2021 as a global initiative to advance transportation outcomes that accelerate the deployment and scaling of mobility-enabling technologies to improve how people and goods move.
By convening private and public sector stakeholders, conducting industry-leading research, and developing policy strategies and recommendations, ReMo addresses the barriers to and opportunities for unlocking a 21st century mobility system that is safe, secure, efficient, and sustainable.
About SAFE
SAFE is an action-oriented, nonpartisan organization committed to transportation, energy, and supply chain policies that advance the economic and national security of the United States, its partners, and allies.
SAFE has worked with its Energy Security Leadership Council—a peerless coalition of current and former Fortune 500 CEOs and retired 4-star admirals and generals—to support secure, resilient, and responsible energy solutions.
Since its launch in 2005, SAFE’s work has expanded past its original focus on reducing America’s oil dependence to encompass global transportation, energy policy, and supply chain challenges. In supporting strengthened alliances, transparency, and reindustrialization, SAFE advances an ambitious vision from the first raw materials to the very last mile.
SAFE’s Pillars
In a polarized political environment where energy policy has been ideologically defined by the left or right, SAFE has remained focused on real-world, pragmatic solutions that address supply and demand-side considerations as part of a holistic approach to energy security.
Energy Security for Strength and Prosperity: Achieve freedom from dependence on adversaries for energy and essential materials through domestic production, strategic partnerships, and supporting technological breakthroughs.
Critical Material Security: Build self-reliant supply chains for critical materials essential to defense, technology, and economic strength.
Infrastructure Resilience: Fortify U.S. grids and critical systems against cyber, physical, and operational threats.
American Innovation: Advance technologies that bolster U.S. industrial leadership in mobility, manufacturing, and materials.
Domestic Solutions First: Prioritize U.S.-led initiatives, repurpose existing policies, and mobilize public-private partnerships for secure and sustainable growth.
Global Initiatives
SAFE has expanded its focus beyond American energy security to encompass pressing international energy security, mineral supply chains, industrial capacity, and the intersection of defense needs and energy innovation. SAFE works globally on mineral security policy and is bringing its solutions-driven approach to Europe through the European Initiative for Energy Security.
