Mathias Carlbaum
President and Chief Executive Officer, Navistar
Mathias Carlbaum is President and CEO of Navistar, Inc. and a member of the TRATON SE Executive Board.
As Navistar CEO, Carlbaum helped the company gain market share in North America and increase profitability substantially since the merger with the TRATON GROUP in 2021. He also led the cultural integration into TRATON post-merger.
As global sustainability efforts continue to gain momentum, Carlbaum has signed a commitment for Navistar to develop science-based targets aligned with the Science-Based Targets Initiative, supported the participation of Navistar in the United Nations Global Compact initiative, signed the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ pledge, reinforced the establishment of Powering America’s Commercial Transportation (PACT) alongside industry peers, and joined the Coalition for Reimagined Mobility (ReMo) as Commissioner.
Beyond leading the post-merger management of Navistar on behalf of the TRATON GROUP, Carlbaum has extensive experience in sales and international markets. For five years, he served as Executive Vice President, Commercial Operations of Scania CV AB in Södertälje, Sweden. In that role, Carlbaum managed support functions critical to sales and marketing efficiency.
In addition to his time in Sweden, Carlbaum worked as Sales and Marketing Director for both Scania Hispania and Scania Latin America. From there, he took on the role of Vice President, Sales and Marketing of Scania Latin America, before working as the Managing Director of Scania Iberica (Spain and Portugal) and Managing Director of Scania Brasil.
Carlbaum has a Master of Business Administration from Umea University in Sweden.
