Justin Klaparda, AICP

Policy Associate

Justin Klaparda joined the Coalition for Reimagined Mobility as a Policy Associate in August 2022. Justin comes to the Coalition with three years of experience in the community and environmental planning sectors, working on a variety of projects across the state of California. Justin has always been intrigued by the different variables that allow some cities, regions, and natural environments to blossom while others fail to thrive. During his graduate studies at the California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo, Justin supported the Morro Bay National Estuary Program, a US Environmental Protection Agency-funded nonprofit organization, with the preparation of its suite of watershed level management and planning documents.

Following his graduate studies, Justin worked with urban planning, design, and environmental consulting firms in the San Francisco Bay Area. His first stop was at MIG in Berkeley, where he led the review of development entitlements as an extension of staff for Northern California jurisdictions. Most recently, Justin joined Environmental Science Associates, Inc, and worked closely with local and regional municipalities to develop innovative planning strategies to be incorporated within citywide plans, specializing in environmental justice and community hazard resilience.

He is particularly passionate about project implementation and is excited about this potential within the transportation policy field. He firmly believes that the transportation network is foundational in people’s understanding and interactions of the places in which they live. Justin is an active member of the American Planning Association and is American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). In his free time, Justin likes to go indoor rock climbing, try new food, and explore everything that the City of Boston has to offer with his fiancée and six-month-old Shih-tzu Poodle, Howl.
