Recognized for his contributions in autonomous transportation, Gautam Narang, Gatik’s CEO and Co-founder, becomes latest executive leader to join ReMo’s Commission
WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 23, 2023) — The Coalition for Reimagined Mobility (ReMo), a global initiative of the nonpartisan nonprofit, SAFE, that is shaping policy to improve the movement of people and goods, proudly welcomes Gautam Narang, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Gatik AI, Inc. (Gatik), the leader in autonomous transportation for B2B short-haul logistics, into its esteemed group of Commissioners.
Gatik, founded in 2017, provides Autonomous Transportation as a Service (ATaaS) for Fortune 500 customers including Kroger, Walmart, Loblaw, Pitney Bowes, KBX and Georgia-Pacific across multiple markets including Texas, Arkansas, and Ontario, Canada. Since launching commercial operations in 2019, the company has revolutionized the industry by deploying its proprietary autonomous driving technology in partnership with some of the nation’s largest grocers, retailers, distributors, e-commerce platforms, and CPG companies. In 2021, Gatik achieved a worldwide first when it launched driverless commercial deliveries on the middle mile for Walmart.
“ReMo and Gatik are a natural partnership,” said SAFE CEO Robbie Diamond. “Gatik is a leader in transforming the logistics industry and will bring valuable, bold ideas to ReMo’s work across freight digitalization and autonomy to advance policy that makes the way we move goods more efficient, sustainable, and secure.”
“I am thrilled to be part of the Coalition for Reimagined Mobility,” said Gautam Narang. “Gatik’s guiding principles as the leader in autonomous middle mile logistics seamlessly align with ReMo’s ambitions. I eagerly anticipate leveraging Gatik’s success in the safe, efficient, and reliable movement of goods to contribute to the Coalition’s vision for enabling the future of mobility, today.”
Narang brings his expertise to the Coalition, joining global leaders from Ford, FedEx, Transdev, and Goodyear. As the driving force behind Gatik, Narang has pioneered a niche known as the “middle mile” in the autonomous vehicle transportation and logistics industry.
Before founding Gatik, Narang led multiple high-profile teams, building diverse robotics systems from moon rovers and self-driving cars to off-road autonomous vehicles and bomb-disposal robots. He has over 15 years of experience in Robotics and AI including research at CNRS, NREC, Honda R&D, and Waseda University. He holds a Masters in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University. He was awarded the Automotive News All-Star in 2021 for his industry-defining contributions in the mobility sector, and in 2022, was recognized by Goldman Sachs on its list of Most Exceptional Entrepreneurs.
